The plain Cortland
This example’s unengraved rims and bridge give the circular lens shape a particularly direct outline. The raised bridge, separate pad assembly and slim temples provide the same kind of optical articulation seen in more decorative early metal frames. Beside the filigree Cortland in this collection, the absence of ornament becomes the distinguishing feature. The two entries are separate objects, each with its own surface finish and fittings.

This example offers a restrained counterpart to the ornamented Cortland in the collection.
Condition & presentation
Plain white-tone rims and bridge, with the pad assembly and temple configuration retained. Please refer to the photographs for surface detail; additional close-ups are available. No case is included.
