Identification & authentication

Names and celebrity associations are clues, not conclusions. We read construction, markings, proportions and material evidence together.

Construction & materials

Rivets, hinges, cores, bridges and finishing methods help place a frame within a maker’s language and period.

Restoration & originality

A sensitive restoration may preserve a frame’s life; replacement parts and polishing can also remove evidence. Both deserve precise description.

Sizing & collecting

Marked dimensions are only the beginning. Fit, condition, rarity, provenance and intended use all affect a considered acquisition.
